Epic Adventure!!
May 5, 2010
This story really begins in October. On the 31st I was helping me parents drag their fire pit from behind their house to the halloween party out front. I noticed the tile had cracked and it looked like it was going to fall apart. A couple of weeks ago, I started to work on it. I pulled apart the lid that had cracked and took the tile apart from the grout.
It was going alright until I realized the reason the tiles and grout had been cracking. The tiles were attached to a metal plate. This is what made up the lid. However, the plate was flimsy, rusted, and completely unreusable. So, my father and I had to look for another plate. He found a sheet of metal at a local home improvement store. So today, I got to cut that sheet into a circle. I used a metal saw and it was pretty difficult. Not only did my arms get vibrated out of their sockets, but even after measuring it a bunch of times, I still had to go back and cut it three more times to get all the minor adjustments.
Doesn’t it look like a lot of work? It is! And we had to stop for the day. I still need to file the edges of the circle and put rust preventer on it. Then I’ll be able to put the tiles back on!

WOW Becca!! This is such a totally awesome project!!
I love it! I’m a little confused though. Did you have to cut a circle with a circle within it for the firepit? -because that’s intense! I’m super impressed. More pictures please!
